But today, we won’t dwell too much on the technical side. Let’s talk about how to choose a good palette for your site—one that truly represents you and speaks to your visitors.

Why Colors Are Important Colors aren’t just for looking pretty. They have real power! They can:

Create an atmosphere around your universe Make your site recognizable among thousands Stay engraved in the memory of your visitors Strengthen the coherence of your brand Imagine this: someone visits your site to buy a pan. They land on a beautifully designed page with an elegant dark red atmosphere. They leave, but two weeks later, they search again. They might not remember your brand name, but they remember that red. Result: they find you again! That’s the power of colors.

What Helps a Visitor Remember a Site: The dominant color The brand name Visuals (product photos, ambiance images) And only then, the text

How to Choose Your Colors Well If you already have a logo or a graphic charter, that’s great! Use these colors as a base to create a coherent palette.

But if you’re starting from scratch, don’t panic! Here are 3 possible directions, with their advantages.

  1. Sites in White or Soft/Pastel Colors Very trendy today, this option gives a clean, delicate, and elegant style. It’s perfect for fashion, photography, wellness, or lifestyle blogs.

Choose this path if:

Your content speaks for itself (beautiful photos, deep texts) You aim for a soothing, professional, or feminine atmosphere Your brand already has good visibility (no need to overdo it)
Examples of soft colors: sand beige, powder pink, sky blue, sage green.

  1. Bold and Dominant Colors Perfect for making a lasting impression and standing out in a competitive sector. A strong color well-used becomes your visual signature.

Ideal if:

You’re launching an innovative product or service You want a punchy and confident brand image You like creative, modern, dynamic atmospheres Tip: Use a strong color for strategic elements (buttons, links, calls-to-action) and keep the rest of the site more neutral to balance.

Examples: electric turquoise, mustard yellow, bright orange, poppy red.

  1. Dark Palettes Less common, but ultra-effective for certain types of sites. A dark background gives a premium, arty, tech, or confidential effect.

Ideal for:

Photographers, videographers, musicians Luxury products Tech or design-related projects
Recommended colors: charcoal black, anthracite gray, navy blue, dark bronze.

Handle with care: make sure to maintain good readability with contrast (light texts, bright images, etc.).

Some Simple Rules to Get Started Here are the rules I apply to my own sites and recommend to my clients:

One main color: this is your signature, the one found everywhere. One secondary color: to balance or contrast. One accent color: for buttons, links, details that catch the eye. Neutral colors: white, light gray, beige… to let everything breathe. And above all, stay consistent across all pages. A harmonious site, even if simple, looks more professional than a colorful site without logic.
